The institutions and trading names listed above are, or are closely associated with, members of the BSA. The vast majority of those listed are independent building societies; all are members of the BSA. "Barnsley Building Society", "Chelsea Building Society" and "Norwich & Peterborough" are not independent building societies, but trading names of the Yorkshire Building Society, following the merger of those formerly independent building societies with the Yorkshire in 2008, 2010 and 2011 respectively. "Cheshire Building Society" and "Derbyshire Building Society" are also not independent building societies, but trading names of Nationwide Building Society, following their merger in 2008. "Dunfermline Building Society" is also a trading name of Nationwide Building Society following the acquisition by Nationwide of the bulk of the business of Dunfermline Building Society in 2009. "Britannia" is a trading name of the Cooperative Banking Group (formerly Cooperative Financial Services - CFS); the Britannia Building Society merged with CFS in 2009. Cooperative Banking Group is a member of the BSA. The business of the former Kent Reliance Building Society was transferred to OneSavings Bank plc in 2011; krbs is a trading name of OneSavings Bank plc, which is majority owned by the Kent Reliance Provident Society. OneSavings Bank plc is a member of the BSA.
