Do building societies provide just mortgage and saving facilities?
| Print page | Email |
Building societies were originally set up to build houses. From there they grew to make loans to people who wanted to buy houses that were already built and to accept investments from people who simply wanted to save to get a good return on their money. However, in recent years building societies have diversified and a number now offer, among other services, current accounts (some over the internet), credit cards, travel money, unsecured loans, various types of insurance and estate agency services.
