Which building societies have recently announced mergers?
The Nationwide and Portman building societies were the latest to merge and this took place on 28 August 2007.
On the 7th June 2008 the boards of directors of the Chelsea Building Society and Catholic Building Society agreed in principle that the two societies should merge. Under the proposal the Catholic would transfer its engagements to Chelsea on a date to be determined. Further details are available via the link below.
