Hanley Economic Building Society wins top accolade

Hanley Economic Building Society is celebrating having won The Midlands Excellence Award awarded by Investors in Excellence at their regional awards ceremony in Birmingham at the end of January.

This year's prestigious award was presented by Olympic rower, James Cracknell and rewarded The Hanley for its journey of development and continuous improvement through the EFQM Excellence Model over the past 3 years.

The Hanley has been a finalist at the awards for the past three years, having already won Most Improved Business in 2007.

Speaking about receiving the most prestigious and only award of the evening, David Webster, Chief Executive, said:

"We're thrilled to have won, it is absolutely amazing. I think the world of our 60 employees and this award recognises their attitude and achievements."

Cris Hammond, Human Resources Manager who has overseen The Hanley's EFQM Model, commented:

"It has been an amazing journey for us over the past 3 years and it means a lot to our staff to see us recognised at national awards ceremonies for our hard work. The model has improved our business in a number of ways and we are very proud to have taken part"
