Today’s publication of a Mortgage Charter is designed to give confidence to people worried about meeting their mortgage costs that real help is at hand.

We are working through the detail in order to operationalise the agreement as soon as practicable. A number of building societies and credit unions have already committed their support.

Anybody worried about their ability to pay their mortgage should not wait, they should contact their lender as soon as possible. All our members have experienced teams offering practical, tailored support and will provide a safe space for a confidential, non-judgmental conversation. Contacting your mortgage lender to talk about the options available will not impact your credit file.
