The BSA has responded to the Treasury's consultation paper Mortgage Regulation - A Consultation.
In the response, BSA says that extending regulation to buy to let mortgages would fail to address the underlying issues facing the buy to let sector, and could result in lenders withdrawing from the market. It also says that the BSA supports the regulation of second charge mortgages, and agrees that firms that buy mortgage books should also be regulated.
