Community Support


Since 1854, the Society has been helping local families to save for their futures, buy their own homes and build their communities.

The Society is well known for its community involvement and takes Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously.

In January 2006 we received local recognition by winning the North Staffs Re-generation Zone 'Private Sector Impact on Re-generation Award 2005'.

In November 2006 we won the National Chamber of Commerce Business Commitment to the Community Award .This prestigeous award was a tremendous boost for the Hanley.

As a result of our efforts we have also been awarded Community Mark a national standard of excellence that recognises the involvement in the local community gaining the highest marks to date in England of 97%.

Community Mark is a unique and innovative standard that has been designed to:

- Recognise the work that many small and medium businesses do in their local community.

- Provide a model enabling businesses to maximise their impact on the community, whilst drawing out the commercial benefits.

We were also chosen by North Staffs Chamber of Commerce and Eurochambers to be one of ten examples of best practice to be seen in 29 countries across Europe for our involvement in the local community.

These awards demonstrate our continued commitment to 'putting something back' in the local community.
