You will be a significant decision maker, influencing the credit risk policy and mortgage proposition, and through personal delivery and contribution, ensuring that you and your team drive positive outcomes for customers and strongly support the achievement of lending activity required under our Corporate Plan.
The responsibilities include (but are not limited to): leading and developing the Underwriting Team; acting as a subject matter expert for the Team and positively supporting Sales Teams; using skills, knowledge and experience to control and accept new lending risks; ensuring strong service delivery to customers, sales colleagues, and mortgage intermediaries; maintaining and incrementally developing processes and procedures. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and a requirement to work closely with a variety of colleagues, Team Managers and the Senior Leadership Team.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
You should have a minimum of 3 years underwriting experience in a first charge lending environment operating a loan approval mandate.
Team leadership and supervisory skills are expected. You will need to have a broad knowledge of the residential lending, residential property, and credit risk environment along with knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, with an ability to effect change. Detailed knowledge of Affordability and related models is required, along with a recognition of the importance of a sound risk management framework.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines are required, along with an ability to positively and effectively interact at all levels within the business.
