A maternity leave cover opportunity has arisen at the BSA for a Press and Publications Officer.  

Our Press & Publications Officer will go on maternity leave in mid-August and we are looking for someone with the right skills to cover for an initial nine-month period of maternity leave, with the potential for extending this period, on a monthly rolling basis, up to the full 12 month maternity leave allowance.

The main duties include:

• Editorial responsibility for all regular BSA publications including our quarterly magazine, Society Matters plus responsibility for all ad hoc publications   

• BSA blogs and our social media activity

• Press office and press release and article writing  

We are particularly keen to have someone in this role who has an understanding of building societies, in addition to well-developed communication and writing skills.  In essence an individual who can hit the ground running.  It is most likely to suit someone who already has communication/marketing /PR responsibilities.    The role is full-time, however we will consider applicants on a part-time (4-day per week) basis.  Until it is safe to return to the BSA office the role will be 100% homeworking.  Thereafter, recognising where members are based, the mix of home and office working is up for discussion.  

This role, which reports to the Head of External Affairs, is central to the external affairs team and the successful applicant will work across a diverse range of topics and policy areas, working closely with other members of the BSA team.
