Chris Lawrenson

Chris, who was admitted as a solicitor in 1980, joined the Building Societies Association in 1991 following a career in private practice, as a law lecturer, and solicitor with a building society.  He has been Head of Legal Servcies at the BSA since 1997.  His policy areas include legislation affecting building societies (including the 1986 Act), compliance with conduct of business regulation/the FCA, conduct risk/treating customers fairly, banking/savings law and practice, age discrimination and unfair terms.  He is currently leading for the BSA on the strengthening accountability in banking project.
