Coventry’s simple and prudent business model continues to deliver robust financial performance. The Society has grown consistently, increasing its share of both the mortgage and savings markets in recent years, and remains strongly profitable and well capitalised.
The Society, named “most trusted savings account provider” by Moneywise in 2014, offers a competitive portfolio of savings accounts that can be operated through a range of channels including telephone, internet, post and branches. The branch network comprises 91 branches and agencies across the Midlands and South West of England, but the Society is a national organisation with savings and borrowing members across the UK.
The Board places a high priority on engaging with its members as well as with the wider community. The Members’ Council continues to provide regular and structured input in addition to that gained by a programme of Member Roadshows and extensive member research.
The Society is an enthusiastic supporter of local charities and national appeals. It helped over 250 organisations in 2014 through fundraising and volunteering and has raised over £11m for the Poppy Appeal since 2008. In addition, many staff volunteer to help develop financial literacy amongst students and adults. The Society supports personal development, careers advice and work experience for young people with a programme of school interventions, internships and work placements.
