Compulsory purchase consultation

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and HM Treasury released a consultation paper on reforming compulsory purchase processes.

The paper states its purpose as 'a package of proposals for technical process improvements and guidance to make the process clearer, faster and fairer with the aim of bringing forward more brownfield land for development.'

The BSA submitted a response to the consultation on 9 June 2015, focusing in particular on question 23 which could have an effect on lenders if the proposals to port mortgages on properties in negative equity come to fruition.
