This research, undertaken by the University of Huddersfield, is concerned with understanding how building societies non-executive directors are coping with the greater demands on them in light of the financial crisis - and the regulatory response to it. It examines their views on risk; changes in risk appetite and risk management; and how NEDs themselves view the recent proposals for a more emphasised role in the corporate governance of building societies.
