Sunday Times ‘Best Companies To Work For’ list features two building societies

Both Coventry and Skipton building societies have been acknowledged in the annual Best Big Companies To Work For list in 2020.

Both Coventry and Skipton building societies have been acknowledged in the Sunday Times 25 Best Companies To Work For list.

Coventry Building Society came in second place - Lucy Becque, HR Director at the Coventry, said: “We are thrilled to be named one of the very best companies to work for. As these awards are based on a survey of all employees, there’s no better measure of how great it is to work for Coventry Building Society.

“We’ve seen that when our people enjoy what they do, they consistently deliver great results and it’s no coincidence that our customer service is second to none.

“Sharing a common set of values with your colleagues and your employer can be a powerful bond. We are focused on doing the right thing for our two million members - that strikes a chord with people who work here and with people who want to work here… it’s quite popular with our members too!”

Continuing a fantastic performance from the sector, Skipton Building Society also took 8th place on the list.

David Cutter, Skipton's CEO, said: “Wow! What an achievement. I am incredibly proud that we have been recognised as one of the top 10 big companies in the UK.

“To be recognised against 24 of the UK’s largest, most respected and recognisable companies is a huge accolade for us and gives us a good benchmark of where we are compared to these organisations to help us continue to make Skipton a great place to work.

“This achievement really emphasises our commitment to developing our people and we will continue to look at new and exciting ways to build on our colleague engagement, ensuring each and every colleague strives to be their best."

Skipton also won an additional Special Award for Learning and Development.

Best Companies helps organisations become better places to work by measuring, improving and recognising engagement. Its accreditation programme is the standard of workplace engagement in the UK, recognising organisations and managers who genuinely value and respect their employees.

The Best Companies to Work For lists are published each year by The Sunday Times. This year’s list was published in The Sunday Times on 23 February.

Congratulations from everyone at the BSA! These fantastic examples are a real credit to our sector, and show just how building societies work for people.
