Our first Assembly will be chaired by the BSA’s Head of Legal, Elaine Morton, and will cover a wide range of topics which will be of interest to those in the sector.

Join us at TLT’s Manchester office on Wednesday, 5 February 2026, for an insightful event:

Time: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

This event will bring together industry experts to explore key legal and regulatory developments and challenges shaping the sector.

What to expect:

  • Practical insights for legal, risk, and compliance teams
  • Networking opportunities with peers and sector specialists

 Topics to be discussed include:

  • Artificial Intelligence | Approaches to governance and AI issues to consider when contracting with third parties
  • Dealing with customers | The duty of confidentiality and transactions requiring independent legal advice
  • From control to financial freedom | 18 months on from UKF's report into domestic economic abuse, we will look back at the report (including its recommendations) to assess where we are and what is next for lenders in this area
  • Non-financial misconduct and whistleblowing | A perspective for Building Societies
  • A horizon scan | The Renters Rights Act and Commonhold Reform
