BSA response to DCLG call for evidence on improving the home buying and selling process

The BSA's response to the DCLG's Call for Evidence on improving the home buying and selling process.

The BSA has responded to the Department for Communities and Local Government's (DCLG) Call for Evidence on Improving the Home Buying and Selling Process. Our main comments are as follows:

  • A Decision in Principle is already a key part of the home buying process
  • We welcome any move to improve the information available to buyers prior to them making an offer
  • Binding offers, while attractive, would only be possible if combined with greater levels of information available to the buyer prior to making an offer.
  • New build homes should come with their own log book or user guide
