Applications for the 7th cohort of this programme for members of the BSA and the Association of Financial Mutuals (AFM) and run by the School of Business & Economics at Loughborough University open on the 1 March and will run until 31 July or until all the available places are filled.
Since it first started in 2015, this programme has successfully helped to build leadership capability in our sector - to the advantage of individual students and their organisation. To date, 105 students from 30 BSA members and three AFM members, have undertaken challenging but rewarding study on this three-year part-time programme. So far 69 have graduated with their MSc, and more will don their mortar board and gown at the end of this year.
The minimum cohort size for the next intake of students, who will start their studies in October 2022, is 10 and the maximum number of BSA/AFM students who can be accepted is 20. As in the past three cohorts, the Level 7 Strategic Leadership apprenticeship will run in parallel with the standard non-apprentice stream. Given that both apprenticeship levy payers and non-levy payers alike can obtain a good proportion of the funding for the programme from the Westminster Government for students working in England, it is no surprise that the apprenticeship approach has gained in popularity.
The employers guide to this 2022-2025 MSc programme can be viewed here. Applications opened on 1 March 2022 and close on 31 July 2022.
Under the general banner of Executive Master’s Degree individual applicants once selected by their organisation can register for the University’s on-line portal and apply for ‘Strategic Leadership [part time]’ at https://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/sbe/executive-education/apply/
It is essential to read the guidance documents available on the website before starting the application process as specific information is provided for apprentices and standard route applicants, including the materials that must be uploaded in support of their application.
Commenting on the programme, Will Carroll, CEO of the Monmouthshire Building Society said: “In a market where attracting and retaining talent is more competitive than ever, the BSA Masters programme offers attractive development opportunities at a great learning institution for like-minded professionals who wish to progress in their careers. The personal development of those colleagues who have benefited from the programme is evident, with new skills being bought into the Society and a wide network of contacts being built across the sector.
“From a personal perspective, the course was instrumental in my own development, supporting my transition from Finance Director to CEO.”
Having read the employers guide, BSA and AFM members can get further information about this programme and raise any queries by contacting Vicki Unwin at the School of Business & Economics: v.e.unwin@lboro.ac.uk Tel: 01509 222 160 or Mobile: 07816 977 643.
